2017, our 10th Vasilopita

More than four dozen sympareotes and their family member celebrated Saturday night our tenth annual Vasilopita. The "flouri" went to Marina a newly arrived medical student from the University of Crete.

As always, Aristeidis had prepared an outstanding meal, which concluded with ekmek, the parea's favorite desert, and three old style (politikes) Vasilopites. The cutting of the pites this year was done by four of the original founding members of the parea, who happened to be there: Vaios, Makis, Dimitris and Manolis. The music was performed by the very talented professionals Lefteris Kordis and Panayota Haloulakou. 

As you'll see below, the dancers had a great time and we were all surprised by the great dancing exhibited by the children of Aristeidis and Angela: Phaidon, Chloe and Daphne.... 

In addition to the regular attendees, this time we had Yorgo, son of founder Hari, and his girlfriend Leah; Yannis, a parea member, who came with Stella, his wife as of Saturday morning; the head of the parea's Rhode Island chapter, Costas and Antonia; two medical students from the University of Crete; and new parea members Makis, Pavlos and Yannis. An unexpected pleasure was the re-appearance of the parea's attorney, Dimitris. (Click on the photos to enlarge.)
