Sympareotes enjoy 8th Vasilopita celebration

About 40 sympareotes, their spouses and friends celebrated the annual Vasilopita cutting yesterday at Athan's in Brighton. This year's "flouri" winner was newcomer Antonis Zervos.

Aristeidis had prepared an outstanding arni giouvetsi along with spanakopites and tyropites. He topped it all off with the parea's favorite ekmek. The dancing was led by Thaleia, Yannis, Thanasis and Vassilis.

This year's innovation was that Manolis had collected dance music from every part of Greece that's represented in the parea. We even had dances from Tilos! Ipod-connected wireless speakers allowed flexibility in song selection.

The parea thanks Aristeidis for his cooking and donating all the food and drink and Vaios for collecting the money.
