Approximately $4000 was raised through the 2014 singing of the kalanda for the Hellenic Cardiac Fund of Boston's Children's Hospital. It was the 33rd consecutive year the fund raiser has taken place.
About 60 Hellenes, from a few months old to their 80s (see a few of the younger ones in the photo above), including many Sabbatoparea members, started the gathering by meeting at Markella and David's home at noon on Jan. 1st and visited eight Greek households in the Newton/Brighton area before ending at the homes of Antonia-Lefteris and Eleftheria-Dimitris.
The carolers were treated with great foods and drinks in all their visits. The last visit featured the unique large spanakopita, among other dishes. During the visits, the group sang the kalanda via phone to former group members who were unable to attend because they have moved to other parts of the country.
The kalanda program was, again, organized by Dr. Vassilis under the musical direction of Dr. Nick.
