Children of the sympareotes chart own course....
As another school year begins, I thought it would be a good idea to take stock of what the next generation (our offspring) is doing. I think, you'd agree the following list shows an impressive range of interests, talents and competencies of our children. Συγχαρητήρια, στα παιδιά καί στούς γονείς τους. Και εις ανώτερα.....
Emmanouilidis:
Yianni got his BS in Finance from Bentley College--since renamed Bentley University-two years ago and works at US Bank as account assistant at the Bond Trading Desk in Boston. Thespina graduated from the University of Maryland also with a BS in Finance and works at Pega Systems , a software firm in Cambridge.
Fotis:
Jared works in risk assessment for the national bank of the Netherlands, De Nederlandsche Bank, in Amsterdam. Leah works in the corporate office of Ashoka: Innovators for the Public in DC. She's been in DC two years after a year with Ashoka in Mumbai.
Kreatsoulas:
Marina works in the advertising department of Gray Communications in NYC. Konstantinos is a sophomore at BU.
Mitsialis:
Vanessa graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College, receiving a BA in Molecular Biology. She is currently a member of the Holmes Society in the Harvard Medical School class of 2013.
Papadimitriou:
Peter is a senior at Weston High School.
Paraschos:
Sophia just started at the U Mass. Medical School in Worcester. Alexi graduated from Tufts in May, and in August began the 10-month Johnson Intern Program (JIP) in Chapel Hill, NC. The JIP selects eight young men and women for community service placements, leadership training and spiritual reflection. A goal of the year is for the group to learn to live together, simply, in alliance with the poor.
Pothoulakis:
George is a senior in economics at Rollins University in Florida. He is taking the LSAT this Fall and will be appying to law school. Antony is a freshman at Southern Methodist U. in Dallas.
Theoharides:
Niove graduated with a BA in International Relations and Spanish, interned at the Northeaster's Dukakis Center for Urban Policy and in September she will be working with AmeriCorps in Boston. Konstantinos (Kostis) started classes as a freshman at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH. He made the Men's soccer team. He is taking English, and introductions to chemistry, sociology, and psychology.
Vrouvlianis:
Joanna in her third year as a science teacher at Newton South High School, where she teaches Chemistry and Advance Placement (AP) Biology. She is also coaching the Track & Field and Cross Country teams as an assistant coach. Joanna graduated from the University of New Hampshire (UNH) with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and from New York University (NYU) with a Masters of Science in Biology. She is a certified SCUBA diver and a surfer. Alexi’s passion is muscle cars and he enrolled into a program at the Universal Technical Institute where he graduated as a mechanic. He later decided to go back to college and he enrolled at Suffolk University, pursuing a Business Administration degree. He will be starting his sophomore year in September ‘09.
Zannis:
John is an Executive Sports Producer, Channel 7, Boston. Markella, MD, is Chief Resident, Brigham & Women’s Hospital for 2009-2010; third-year Fellow in Endocrinology, Massachusetts General Hospital for 2010-2011.
